Mount Kenya Trek Itinerary
Itinerary:
- Day 1: MT KENYA MARANIA
Depart 0800hrs from Nairobi to the town of Timau. Start your climb at 11.30 am. The 5-hour hike will take you to Marania campsite at 3300m. - Day 2: MT KENYA MAJORS
Continue climbing to Major’s Camp (4000m) surrounded by Senecia and Lobelia. Lunch at Allan’s point. Approx. 6-hour hike. - Day 3: MT KENYA SHIPTON’S
Trek to Shipton’s Camp at 4200m after passing Terere and Sendeo peaks. Approx. 6-hour hike. - Day 4: MT KENYA AUSTRIAN HUT
Navigate to Austrian Hut (4790m) enjoying views of Simba col and Lewis glacier. Overnight at the camp. - Day 5: MT KENYA MERU MOUNT KENYA LODGE
Summit attempt (Point Lenana, 4985m) at 04.30 hrs. Descend to Mintos camp (4100m) and further down to Meru Mt.Kenya Lodge (2700m). - Day 6: MT KENYA OUT
Depart the lodge after breakfast and connect with the 4×4 vehicle to Chogoria town and on to Nairobi.
