Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi/Meteorological Station
- Departure from Nairobi at 8:00 am
- Transfer to Mount Kenya National Park at Naro Moru Gate for registration
- Hike starts at 2600m
- Follow the park track through the forest, with pleasant walking conditions
- Enjoy views of the Northern Naro Moru valley along the way
- Trek ends at Met Station (3000m) for dinner and overnight rest
Day 2: Met Station/Mackinders Camp
- Trek for 5-6 hours covering 10km with a 1200m ascent
- Head uphill to pass the radio mast
- Enter the moorland and navigate through boggy conditions
- Reach Mackinders Camp (4200m) for dinner and overnight stay
Day 3: Mackinders Camp/Point Lenana/Met Station
- Start at 2 am to reach Point Lenana by sunrise (4-hour walk)
- Enjoy sunrise views and descend to Mackinders Camp for breakfast
- Continue trekking for 4 hours back to Met Station for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Met Station/Naro Moru/Nairobi
- After breakfast, descend through the rainforest for 9km
- Reach Mount Kenya National Park’s Naro Moru Gate at 2600m
- Connect with transport back to Nairobi, arriving around 3 pm
DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION: Nairobi/Meteorological Station
